Total Freedom through Christ Jesus

It is very certain that we will experience total freedom as we journey with Christ in this month of October. Galatians 4:31c says, 'We are FREE.'' Then chapter 5:1 says ''Stand fast, therefore, IN THE FREEDOM wherewith Christ hath MADE us free and be not ENTANGLED again with the yoke of bondage.'' We are free! Christ made us free! Be not entangled again!

Verse 31: ''So, then, brethren, we are not children of the BOND-woman but of the FREE.'' Underscore it with your pencil so it stands out: ''We are free!''

It is a wonderful thing to study this freedom as we find it in the Word of God. Freedom is the opposite of being bound, the opposite of bondage. Bondage means slavery.

Israel was in bondage in Egypt. What did it mean? It means they had no will of their own. They slept for eight hours and when they woke upin the morning, there was always a taskmaster standing over them with a whip in his hand and they had to do just exactly what the man said. They had no freedom,they had to do what someone else wanted them to do.

God created us to be free; But SIN has brought us into bondage, slavery. We do what SIN wants us to do.

What a glorious day it was when God sent Moses by His Almighty power and led them out of bondage into the freedom of God. No longer were they under the taskmaster's lash. No longer did the Israelites have to get up in the morning and do exactly what someone else over them wanted them to do.

They tell me that in prison the worst sentence a person can have is not the death sentence but life imprisonment. That is the hardest thing for the person to bear. All through the war, people in concentration camps risked their lives under penalty of the most horrible consequences to try to get FREE. They would dig tunnels with their bare hands and make the most tremendous efforts TO ESCAPE. Why? Freedom was priceless! To be a slave is misery and despair.

The truth is that most people on earth today are in BONDAGE and know not the freedom that CHRIST alone can give. That's why Paul writes this! He says, ''We are FREE.''

Are you? If you haven't gotten this, God will grant you freedom and that freedom is IN CHRIST, freedom from fear, freedom from the sense of guilt and sin, freedom from sin's lash. So many people have the awful sense of unease that comes from the consciousness of guilt and sin. All of us have sinned but praise God, some of us have been set free by the Lord Jesus Christ at the Cross.

We no longer fear because of our sins. I am not afraid that God will ever bring up a single sin against me. If God did that, He would have to void the work of Jesus Christ on the Cross because when Jesus bowed His Head and said, ''It is finished,'' He said He BLOTTED OUT MY SINS. God's Word says so.

Areas where we will experience freedom

1. Sin: (Rom 8:1-4) There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:  That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
2. Devil: (1 John 3:8) He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose , the Son of God was manifested that he might destroy the works of the devil.
3. Sickness: (Ex 23:25-26) And ye shall serve the Lord your God andHe shall bless thy breadand thy waterand I will take sickness away from the midst of thee. There shall nothing cast their youngnor be barren in thy land: the number of thy days I will fulfil.
4. Bondage\Attack: (John 8:36) If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
5. Financial hardship: (3 John 2) Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
